From the Shadows is a solo Mac game consisting of 140 hours of solo gameplay, and has been awarded Best Single Player PC game at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco.

From the Shadows is the first and only game of its type to have a built-in Mac-compatible audio system. It also features the most advanced technology available for a solo Mac game.

The game takes you back in time to the late 1800’s, and you are cast as a European adventurer who gets caught up in a series of political and mystical conspiracies. It was inspired by Shane Ivey’s book of the same name, and was developed for Macs by a team of seven Mac game developers who could not find an opportunity to create an addictive solitaire game for the Mac platform.

There are three game modes: Adventure, Celestial Domination and Tour the World.

The first two modes require you to survive or battle through large numbers of monsters, demons and bandits that the game presents to you in one of 50 unique locations. To survive, there are six different levels of combat to choose from:

The one above is the space shuttle that floats outside the studio. If you move left, you see the Lunar Orbiter II, which is the Mac game’s spacecraft in the From the Shadows universe. Also, check out the cool silver spacecraft behind it!

The only way you can play is by “shooting” monsters with your blaster cannon. You are rewarded points for each monster you shoot with the blaster and for each time you make it back to the spacecraft.

There is also a place called the “mini-map” which gives you some rough directions and shows a very small part of the board. It’s helpful if you’re lost.

A big part of the game is the “brain”. There is a set of four chips on top of it that represent the Game Master’s hat, the Demon’s hat, the Astronaut’s hat
