I have a problem I’ve been trying to solve for some time now. It’s not a big problem, but I need to be sure how this should be done.
What I have is a parent form, A.
A will also have nested forms, B, C,… N. The user will fill in A, then hit submit. A will then load the B form and redirect back to the parent form A.
There should be no form A. I want it so when the user hits submit on A, it just reloads A.
I’ve tried adding hidden iframe to A, and I’ve tried adding window.opener and then
top.location.replace(‘A’) and
top.document.getElementById(‘A’).document.location.replace(‘A’)
but none of this worked.
Any suggestions on how I should solve this problem?

I’ve solved this by adding a hidden iframe on the parent form, and a listener to onsubmit on the parent form. It’s a bit of a hack but it’s what I have to do because we’re making an extensible system.
I’ll explain the steps:
1. On the form A, in its document.ready, I add a listener to the submit of the form and get the form.
2. Once I get the form, I get the iframe from the form and get its document.
3. I change the iframe’s document.location with the current document’s location.
4. I call the window.opener.location.replace(window.opener.location)
5. The parent form is reloaded as expected.
