the id.4 pro 4motion is equipped as standard with the 3-phase 50 kw ac on-board charger, available as an option for the id.4 models with a standard charger. the charger can be used as a source of power for off-board charging. the maximum charging capacity is 1,500 watts. the car can be recharged in a fully automatic, semi-automatic or manual mode with up to 9 charging cycles in 1 hour. a charging target of 50% is recommended for the high-voltage battery. charging is subject to the state of charge of the high-voltage battery.

the new id.4 pro 4motion is available as a single-colour colour scheme for the electric motors in a special version of the id.4 pro 17 silver metallic paint. the high-gloss paint is also available in other colours:

we tested the s 4motion in the us city of san francisco on some of the worst roads you can imagine. this is where the system shines the most, but as we began to accelerate from a stop, the rear wheels would lock up and feel light. this was most noticeable on steep hills, but was still noticed when driving around town.

the system is pretty simple. there are several sensors around the car that measure the forces applied to it, and a computer on board and then calculates and adjusts the distribution of power to the front and rear wheels. the system on the s 4motion is good, but it could be better. the suspension on the base s models are very firm, and the more expensive models are better tuned for comfort. that was a problem for us.

the 4motion system works well, but there is a little room for improvement. still, it is a huge improvement over any manual-transmission driven sport wagon on the market today. the market niche for which this system is made is a niche that does not exist anymore. this system is as close to perfect as you will find in an automatic wagon. let the critics hate all they want, because if they did they would not be driving an all-wheel-drive wagon that can do what the best manual transmissions cannot.

the drive mode select for the id.4 gt 4motion therefore switches between three standard driving programs as well as their respective special functions. depending on the speed, the id.4 gt will automatically activate the automatic höhenzüge or smart drive function for an automatic level of climbing. this function rechecks the proximity warning system at regular intervals. this allows the vehicle to automatically adapt to potential obstacles, thus making the climbing even more thrilling. if the warning light is on, the id.4 gt will start with the manual höhenzüge function.
the id.4 gt 4motion can travel up to 200 km on a single charge (wltp). the battery is located under the passenger compartment floor and is charged in 8 minutes at maximum power from a charging stop of 75 kw. the possible range, according to wltp, is between up to 605 kilometres and in a combined cycle, depending on the driving conditions, from 13 to 19,7 kwh. the top speed is limited to 195 km/h.
of course, 4motions speed sensitive steering is best used where conditions are safe, such as the straight sections of a congested highway. in tight traffic, youre still in a car and may not be looking anywhere near the speed signs, so the system can be unsafe. so for this reason, 4motion shouldnt be used in heavy traffic.
