BaddASS is a custom plugin designed to let you sort out weak bass drums. From those with no bottom end, to those with no attack (as well as recovering some of the mix from the bass drum), this plugin is designed to get the bottom end back.
baddASS Features:
– All essential classic stuff – ‘click’, ‘punch’, ‘distortion’ and ‘wah’ controls
– Sync and gate controls for each of the parameters (ie they work independently of each other)
– A flexible routable low-end circuit for you to create your own
– Symmetrical, asymmetrical and unilateral low-end compressors
– Plenty of new sounds
– All to work, and all to be changed, independently of each other
baddASS Use:
– For those that have a bass drum with no bottom, a weak attack or a lack of low-end.
– For those that have an erratic bottom end that is a combination of weak lows and wobbly highs.
– For those that have bottom-ends with a lot of reverb or hall-effects – where all the low-end is dead, but the kick itself is alive – good news!
– For those that have a drum mix that is all over the place but the kick is stuck.
baddASS Design:
– a small plugin, designed to be as flexible as possible.
– a minimum of knobs – You can set this from the settings menu (see more about the settings menu below)
– all of the gain controls are also controllable using the LFOs – so you can manipulate the whole thing from within the plugin, without doing any work outside of the plugin.
– all the compression controls can be controlled and manipulated via the LFOs as well.
– split controls are included, so you can dial in your own rate, rate modulation, envelopes etc.
– it sounds best at low values, but will do the job at any value.
– all parameters are routable, which means you can route the plugin to anything you like
– a large selection of preset banks are provided.
– this plugin comes ready to run. I have made it as simple as possible to configure, but there are lots of details you can set from the settings menu. The big thing to note is that the plugin does not use compression, so you can set all the parameters to the same value, and have a number of different settings,

From storming bottom end to (even more) evil cutting distortion, baddASS’s drive, crush and EQ sections give you plenty of scope for re-inventing your kick.
