I can’t tell you where to begin learning how to make basic adjustments. You’ll have to experiment to figure out what you want to do. You might learn about layers relatively quickly, and you’ll also find the Organizer useful, if you remember to use it. The layer combination tool lets you keep images separate, so you have less to edit, and they still behave as separate layers. You’ll also find a lot more in the New toolbox and the revamped File menu. You can zoom in and out on images, and so can other users. Clip art and drawing tools help when image-editing. Controls for layers are at the top of the layers palette if you have multiple.
You rarely come across the terms “adjustment” or “adjustment layer.” This makes it easy to overlook things like the Levels command, which I consider the single most important adjustment, and to forget to use it. The adjustment layers are somewhat similar to layers. They help you control color in particular ways, such as reducing shadows, adding highlights, or increasing saturation.
