User interface and function

The cognitive-behavioral approach, as a common strategy to teach low-functioning children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is based on functional outcome expectations, where their behavior is considered an indication of academic achievement. The goal of the current study was to examine the impact of a novel approach to teaching low-functioning children and adolescents with ASD based on simultaneously developed self-monitoring, self-feedback and simulation learning. Four children and adolescents with ASD between 5-13 years old, with a low cognitive level, took part in this study. Each patient was trained with four conditions (for each age group). A baseline condition was evaluated before the intervention and two post-intervention conditions: an education condition, with a functional outcome expectation focus, and a simultaneous bilaterally training condition. A control group was also included.
