AutoCAD uses a graphical user interface (GUI) to simplify drawing and modeling, as opposed to older text-based programs such as AutoCAD LT, Autodesk Architectural Desktop or Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical. A typical AutoCAD drawing might be of a building project. It is set up in the drawing environment with a single layer in the background and all objects drawn on top of that. Once completed, the drawing can be printed, exported to other formats, sent to a database, or exported as a raster image for printing. Command-line mode

AutoCAD allows users to access the drawing environment via the command-line mode, which offers command-line entry of all available commands.
