When Desperate Housewives returns, Darlene finds out that her husband, Orson, is cheating on her with her best friend, Gabrielle. It’s a shocking revelation, because Gabrielle is also engaged to Orson. We have to ask, “How is Orson still married to Darlene when she’s cheating on him with the woman he’s been seeing for months?”

Now, it’s not a total shocker for the Wisteria Lane residents. Darlene was the married cheating girlfriend in seasons 1 and 2, and she remained in a continuing relationship with Gabrielle throughout seasons 3 and 4. Darlene and Gabrielle even moved in together together for a while.

The women, both of them, became very close during that time and even worked in the same office. Darlene even helped Gabrielle choose her engagement ring. In fact, it was Darlene who encouraged Gabrielle to go through with the marriage, because she knew she and Orson were having problems.

So what’s up with this new scenario? Well, Darlene and Orson haven’t been officially divorced for a few years now, and it’s no secret that the two got back together after Darlene discovered that he was having an affair with Gabrielle.

It turns out Darlene is upset because Orson told Gabrielle about Darlene, and now she is taking the blame for cheating.

When Orson goes to Darlene and tells her that he slept with Gabrielle and Darlene’s reaction is comical. She asks, “Did you have sex with my best friend?”

Gabrielle is quick to point out, “No, I didn’t have sex with Darlene, Orson.”

ABOUT the series

This series of poems was written by and dedicated to my mother, Mary. I hope they will inspire readers to create their own memories of their own mothers. A poem inspired by Mary is published in each issue of “Poems of Life”.

Mary was born June 30, 1913, in Perth, Scotland. She arrived in America with her family in 1937. She met, and married, my father, William, in 1941. They had two children, a son and a daughter. They resided in Pennsylvania until 1959 when they moved to New Jersey.

Mary began to experience health problems, and was diagnosed with cancer. She died on August 11, 1997, at the age of 78. She passed away at home, with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her father, William, and her son, Michael. She is survived by her son, Christopher, and daughter, Patricia, and their children, Carol, Caren, and Mark.

Mary is buried at Saint Ann’s Cemetery in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Mary was my inspiration, and I dedicate this series of poems to her, in memory.

Their great-grandmother was Mary Brown of Scotland, the great-great-grandmother of Mary and Margaret. The ancestry is traced back to Mary Brown of Scotland, who had four sons, three of which took the name of Wilson.
