i have this tool as well, and it does work! its super easy to install, and just as simple to use. install it, run it, launch your airport and fly. it really is that easy. all you need is to select a location for the airport, specify a runway angle, and a runway length. the airport will then be generated.

additionally, you can specify a direction and runway to be in. if this direction is west/southwest it will default to the west runway, so as not to mess with the wind direction. if you specify a direction of east/southeast it will default to the southwest runway.

another limitation is the airport is only populated with a runway, a departure runway, and then a 5 mile radius. as one of the other commenters noticed, you can add additional runways and begin some true adventures.

this may be the most user friendly and beginner friendly of all the airport creation tools. download this file, unzip it, and launch it. thats it! there are no steps to follow, its very easy, and its easily one of the better airport tools i have ever used.

finally, you can select from as many runways as you need, specify them to take off and land on, their length, the runway surface type, and so much more. this really is an amazing airport creation tool.

aerosoft has released their crj 700 900 as a free update to the airport strips. up until now, i have enjoyed working with the regular airports made by aerosoft (as discussed in my review of the crj 700 at airliners.net).

as with the regular crj 700, the 9000 will consist of two sets of ground routes, a departures set and an arrivals set. one slight difference is that the departures routes will be runway/direction specific. this is to facilitate pilots passing the airport by, as they wont see the same ground route twice.
