good evening everyone. i hope you all had a wonderful week. mine was great with some sunshine, and i also do some christmas presents and i’m happy for them to be paid. i also got a new ipad this week and i’m really looking forward to work on projects on it. i have always been using a 14″ macbook pro and recently also an ipad as a sketching tool. i will do some tutorials on the new ipad next week and meanwhile i’m happy to share my workflow with you.

not all colours are made equal. studies have shown that the clothing we wear can change the emotional state of a person, and makes them feel more comfortable. it also can affect how their color perception is.

the science of colour can be amazing! i was recently playing around with some oils, and one of my friends was interested in learning more about the paints i was using. i showed him how the oils made the paint and my brush strokes lighter, and the colour warmer. he looked so surprised.

the photoshop plug-in does more than just allow you to choose colors – its also a powerful color mixer and editing engine, so that you can color-compose complex palettes and push the limits of color editing. it automatically picks colors from your picture and mixes them into any palette you choose, overriding only those colors that are already there and keeping all other colors untouched.

you can use the built-in tool or edit colors from any layer in your work. painting your foreground layers in a flat color without comping them is much more manageable than mixing colors one at a time, or cleaning up a huge number of layers and colors one at a time.

but maybe you don’t like the way the magicpicker is integrating colors on the canvas and so you decide to run a colorpicker brush. it’s nice to be able to define a palette and then have the colorpicker color your work from within the brush, instead of having to manually pick colors from your canvas.

the photoshop plug-in also supports a large number of other filters. use it to apply b&w filters, gaussian blur, blur, contour, smudge, levels, curves, desaturate, desaturate & color, burn, dodge, or luminance, and even use the plug-in to enhance the contrast of your work! it works with any image or transparency. there are hundreds of filter presets, and a few more are always in the works. please let me know if you have any suggestions!

there are many more features, but these are the most important. over the next few months, i’ll add more details, and i want to hear what you think!

the default settings for creating a new color scheme, is to assign hues to one of the primary or secondary color mixers. however, if you want to use the color mixer to choose from the rgb or cmyk channel then you have to create a new “rgb mixer” or “cmyk mixer” swatch in the color schemes palette and assign those to the color picker. when you pick the color you want in the wheel, that color becomes the swatch color, so you now have a color you can assign to any swatch in the color scheme.
some of the swatches appear grey/white until you fill them in, and then you can choose any of the swatches to set as the color.i have a question about this. the swatches are completely grey when first created. why is that? does it matter? what should i do to fix them?
when you first start creating swatches, you can create them using the hex or rgb values in the rgb / cmyk mixer. once you have them created, if you take the original colors from the mixers and copy and paste them into the swatch, they will replace the hex values. if you dont like the hex values there to start, then you can simply click the swatch you want to replace the values with the dropdown box in the color picker.
the hex editor lets you edit your colors in hex format. the edit box is greyed out until you type something in. when you start typing, the first line is shown in hex, then the text is replaced with the hex code. when you are done editing, simply click outside of the input box and it will change back to the regular color picker.
the color wheel lets you select a color, and then copy and paste that color into the hex editor.it will ask if you want to duplicate your swatch (add a new one), change your hex to rgb or cmyk, or even change the color if you wish.when you select the swatch, it uses the color you selected in the hex editor, and changes the hex to rgb or cmyk based on what you selected. the small preview of the hex editor will automatically change to the color you selected in the color picker.the drop down next to it will change the color directly to the swatch without changing the hex editor.
