Oxford English For Careers Tourism 3 Student Book

Students are able to practice writing engaging text on subjects that interest them. Whether English or Creative Writing students are interested in exploring subjects and making connections, there is plenty to stimulate their interest and inspire academic writing and thinking.

This textbook is consistently at the top of students evaluation lists because students see how its flexible and useful curriculum fits their needs to study English abroad. It is a student-friendly and fun-to-use textbook. Students have found that it meets all the academic requirements in a variety of fields including Humanities and Social Sciences, Business, Accounting, Banking and Finance, as well as Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering.

The textbook is well organized. It has a clear structure, a good amount of exercises, and is well referenced. The book is exceptionally well organized. Students at the very beginner level can use this book to get a handle on the basics. Advanced students will find this book to be a useful reference as they continue to develop their skills in academic writing. This is my first textbook as an Academic Affairs Librarian, and it has been an amazing learning experience. I am so grateful to Loren Oftendorp for drafting such a great textbook! I wish that the OEC series had been around when I was an undergraduate student. I would have loved to have this series available to me.

Many friends have told me that without Oxford English for Careers on my curriculum, I would have never been a published author. Since that time, Oxford English for Careers has given me the opportunity to reach a global audience with my stories and has helped me win two first place awards in writing contests. I am grateful to Oxford University Press for such a great series.

I love writing and couldn’t think of a career that I’d enjoy more. I graduated college a year before Oxford English for Careers came out, and I couldn’t wait to have this on my curriculum. The flexibility of the OEC series is the perfect textbook for any English or Creative Writing major. It is incredibly user-friendly, and it gives students the option to focus their studies on their specialty. When I am ready, I will continue with Oxford English for Careers as a graduate student, and I am excited to see where the series will take me.
In this book I have tried to illustrate the changes in texts that have happened in student notebooks during the period of two decades. Although the specific texts in the book are excerpted from the notebooks of students who have completed four modules of the four-year programme at the University of Bath in the autumn semester of 2005-2007, the concern is to gather together a collection of notes that are relevant to all students. Students seem to have managed to progress from original flowcharts to polished and elaborate synthesis of diagrams, and finally to reflection on the modules that they have been taking during the semester.
Many thanks are due to my teacher-cluster colleagues in the Language Centre, whose timely advice and practical help have greatly assisted the process of developing this book. My final thanks are due to my beloved wife, Margaret, who has supported me throughout the development of this project. Her patience and constructive feedback have been invaluable. The initial writing of the book was completed during the summer semester of 2010, when I was spending a year as a Visiting Professor of English at the University of Bath. During the time that I spent there, I was fortunate to be able to interact with students at a one-week language technology summer school in Miami (FL, USA). This summer school was organised by Professor Michael Musarra (Florida International University) and Professor Maria Moreno (George Washington University). The aim of the workshop was to bring together professionals from the fields of linguistics and technology (especially those from multimedia and animation industries) to discuss the interface between the development of language, technology, and culture.
