lastly, you can change the textures if you want. you can change a default preset to the same body, outfit, and color, or completely change the textures of the outfit. you will see the option to select from vanilla, or a custom texture of your choosing; or if you have a custom texture in your texture directory, you can use the dropdown to select it there as well.

the above was a quick lesson on how to change clothes and body in skyrim. there are a lot more things you can do to customize your characters. how ever, those are a bit beyond what i’m going to cover here as they involve more advanced options and custom content.

when i get the chance i’ll post these. there are, of course, issues involved as they are a new version of the game. however, it does include some of the mod authors allowing these for the game to work. each of the items below have their own issue that i haven’t resolved for the re-launch, however by now i’d assume these would be solved.

if you are not wearing the clothing of one of the npcs in your party, you can however, equip different equipment to it. in this case the b_hand and b_feet model at the same time is the same model, so we simply have to modify a single slider. slide it up or down and you will affect different parts of the clothing, like for example the chest (b_hands model), the pants (b_legs model), etc. note that the ‘equipped’ state is not mutually exclusive; i.e. you can equip an item to the b_hands and b_feet at the same time.

also, there is a small quality slider for the older models you use in your game. this makes it possible to tweak the quality of the older models (which are lower quality as they are made by other people) or switch between low-high or none.

this tutorial shows all the main steps you need to follow to create an armour or an outfit from scratch for skyrim. if you only want to change the textures of an existing piece of clothing or change its properties and bonus, just skip the first part of the tutorial. if you want to adapt existing armours or outfits to other bodies you will have to follow the steps explained here, except that you won’t have to create the mesh (but you may probably have to adapt it to the new body), the textures or the uv maps.
there isn’t a huge selection of outfits in the game, despite more recent gens including stores to buy clothes all-around their respective regions. brilliant diamond and shining pearl do still include a clothes shop though, and they give you a decent amount of outfits to choose from. this shop is called the metronome style shop and is only located in veilstone city. it has taken the place of the game corner, and the clothes it sells are actually pretty expensive:

you can find some nasty problems with this mod’s presets, however. first off, the only outfits the preset creates are the ones you find in the guide. while this is fine for keeping vanilla fashion in check, the game isnt actually missing any clothes itself. if anything, it lacks the very essentials that i created to fill in the gaps in its wardrobe. you will need to either pull clothing from other sources and edit it with the editor or just use this handy little mod to make the npcs in the game actually wear other outfits!
