Adding an internal page address to an external site

I have an ecommerce site (name is e-shopping) on a server (websitename.com). I am thinking of adding an internal page (with content tailored for the client) onto the same domain (websitename.com).

If this is impossible for some reason, I would like to redirect the page to a subdomain (say ‘products’) and have everything else carry on as normal.
The internal page is a combination of a pure HTML page (no css) for specific functionality and a.php file for dynamic pages.
The external site has no.php/html etc. etc. (so I am sure I will need to make some special changes).

Is this a good idea? I am worried it will break things when/if users shop through the e-shopping site and access the internal page.
I am not expecting a full explanation, just point me in the right direction.

It is not a good idea. Here is why:

You are not “performing the same function” on either side. You
want to “do one thing and do it well” (aka “do one thing and do it
well” is not a new concept).
If something breaks on the
“shopping site” site, then both sites will break. The external
site is not in your control and the internal site is in your control.
If something breaks on the “internal
site” site, then only the internal site breaks.
It makes little sense to take a break in
