calculate a total value for each row in a column in MySQL

I have a table that looks like this:

What I want is to add up the total for each row in column “Total_hourly” and display the results in column “Total_sum”
The problem is that the row totals change when new rows are added or removed from the table.
So I want to find a way to calculate the row totals and use them for the new entries (rather than recalculating the total on each insert).
I was trying to use the “select id, sum(total_hourly) FROM table_name” syntax but it does not seem to work because of the type of query that is being performed.
It seems I need to write a stored function (or a series of if statements) but I am not sure how to proceed.
