Simply, it’s not completely functional. I can’t even use it in Windows XP SP2.
The problem is that it doesn’t remove the registry, and it creates a key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Autorun. This key isn’t supposed to be there for non-Microsoft scripts to detect. Once I delete this key, AutoRunExterminator works fine, but the resulting registry is just… messy.
I tried it in Windows 10 as well, and it just creates a ton of folders and registry keys in the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
There are no options to control what it does, you either use it or leave it be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I am working on a completely functional alternative to these nagware. Once this is done, I will add AutoRunExterminator to my list of paid tools.
