So you want to fly this month, but just can’t seem to get out of the starting gate?

No worries, April’s Fly month is coming to a close and you’ll have yet another month to practice flying, learn and build upon your skills, plus plenty of other monthly events to keep you busy as well.

It’s still quite early, but it’s time to start thinking about all the great times to come, write down your plans in your notes or calendar, and start shaping your flight program for June.

Why Fly Month?

On 1 June 2019, Pi will celebrate the 5th anniversary of “Fly Month”. To help mark the occasion we’re running “Fly Month 2019” each month from now until the end of the year. The goal of this initiative is to help new pilots become more proficient, familiarise themselves with more aspects of learning to fly, and to build on their individual skills and experience. Best of all, all of this is free!

The official Fly Month page will be an ongoing resource to learn and share with other pilots, rather than stopping every April and starting all over again. It’s now time to start putting your plans together. So how are you going to make the most of this month?

What is Fly Month?

There are two Fly Months, one for last year and one for this year. After Fly Month 2018, the previous year’s Fly Month pages will disappear and will be replaced by the new pages, so they will remain there for the next year and for all future Fly Months.

Fly Month is a month-long event organised by a cohort of local pilots of all skill levels. Their intention is to share tips, build new skills and experiences, and provide a supportive, committed community for new pilots. The year after Fly Month, the learning experience is then continued into Fly Month 2019, with one-year anniversary Fly Month pages.

How does Fly Month work?

To take part in Fly Month, you need to complete a lightining-to-darkmoon (LOD) challenge. This challenge (if accomplished) enables each pilot to claim a badge on the Fly Month website

Your mission is to destroy the monkeys hidden in the jungle and control the army of monkeys with your crazy combat cannon.

INTRO
Welcome to Monkey Madness, a gory survival shoot’em up on the Nintendo Entertainment System. In this game you are given an arsenal of weapons to use in order to stop a large colony of bloodthirsty Monkey! The controls are simple and the graphics are your standard E.S.P. style. The music is well done, but the sounds made when you hit the monkeys are absolutely horrific. This game should have a sticker on it describing the content. It’s really not for young children! From a schoolboy’s point of view this game is really awesome! Graphics: Art looks ok; nothing too special, sound: can be better; interesting music; excellent for the system, but children really shouldn’t play this unless they are fairly mature.

Play Information: Controls are simple, use the A, B, C or Z keys to move, and the Space bar to fire. To fire the cannon you can either use the movement keys or you can assign the space bar to fire. Your gun is locked in the position it was at when you last touched it (Cannon = Straight, Aim, Fire). (There are multiple types of guns; these are the most common.)

Gameplay: The game consists of 9 basic levels, each with a different type of environment and type of weapon. First five levels are fairly easy, but the last four are horribly hard, involving fighting dozens of monkeys at a time, using the cannon to hit them in the face. Controls are very simple, no time-controls or special weapons, just hit them as quickly as you can and see how much damage you can do.

Monkey Madness’s main campaign of 9 levels is separated into 3 modes: ‘Realistic’, ‘Odd’ and ‘Innovation’. These modes are exactly what they sound like and are outlined in my guide to the game, but I’ll still explain them for you.

In the ‘Realistic’ mode you have the available weapons (2, 3, 5, 10, 30, 50, and more) and you can move left or right at will, before shooting the monkey. In ‘Odd’ mode the weapons are the same, but instead of moving left or right before firing, you have to move up
