Moving around with the cursor

You can work with the menus in the following ways:

To select different tools, simply choose their icons from the Tools panel.

To select a tool, double-click its icon, or click and drag the icon toward you to select the tool.

To move the cursor, hold down the left mouse button, and the cursor changes to a plus sign to move to the right. Release the button to move the cursor to the left.

To move the cursor to a specific pixel, hold down the SHIFT key and click and drag the cursor across the screen. When you release the mouse button, you return to the default cursor.

Adjusting tool settings with the tool options

While you work, you can switch to the different tool options on the Tools panel, shown in Figure 8-1. The image and tool options you see depend on the setting of the User Interface item on the View menu. The options include the following:

Layer 0 and Layer 1: These layers are both visible. The first layer is the current layer in use; the second layer is the background. You cannot work with or move to the background without selecting the first layer.

Navigator tool and Paths toolbar: The Navigator tool, which is a freehand drawing tool, is visible only when you select the Navigator tool option from the tool options. The Paths toolbar, which appears only when you enable the Navigator tool option, displays the two features related to this tool, Paths and Linked Paths.

To access the tool options without deselecting the current tool, click the Eye icon to the right of the tool. Doing so displays a panel

Such modulation may be accomplished by scanning an image of a grayscale or color having a pixel value representing the desired intensity level using a laser. The laser is modulated or switched on and off to determine the intensity of light directed to the photoreceptor and to form the image thereon, and the photoreceptor is also exposed to a suitable wavelength of light to produce one of many colors of light which are incident on the photoreceptor. Each color can be represented by the desired intensity level as its corresponding pixel in the image, so that, in the resulting image, the same desired intensity level is represented by each pixel having the same color.
In order for the intensity of light incident on the photoreceptor to vary from pixel to pixel as indicated above, it is necessary to provide an arrangement which modulates the laser and controls the intensity of the light directed to the photoreceptor in a desired manner for each pixel. The modulation of the laser may be performed using a high-speed or rapid-scanning arrangement, while the control of the light intensity may be accomplished using an array of light sources such as an array of lasers or an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs), or the control of the light intensity may be done directly on the photoreceptor by, for example, modulating the intensity of individual laser pulses.

Rails image_tag not working?

I’m just starting with rails and am trying to add an image tag to a page to serve up a logo to show but when I load the page I just get a blank spot. The image file exists, and I’ve checked the permissions and the location with no errors in the rails log. I’ve tried different url links, ie: image_tag(“logo.png”) and image_tag(“../logo.png”), and both give the same problem.
